The following Scholarships have arrived in the Career Center at Newtown High School. Applications and/or more information are available there. Connecticut Farm Bureau Association, Inc., of Fairfield County â The 2001 Young Agriculturist Achievement Award of $1,000 will be presented to a deserving Fairfield County young person who is involved with any of numerous and varied aspects of agriculture. Applicants must be between the ages of 16 and 25, reside in Fairfield County, and have involvement in agriculture. Application must be postmarked by April 15, 2001. Winners will be notified in May 2001 and the awards will be presented in June 2001.
Sandy Hook School PTA Scholarship Award â The Sandy Hook PTA is pleased to offer scholarship(s) up to $1,000 and Book Award(s) up to $500. The applicant must be a graduating senior who attended Sandy Hook Elementary School and has been accepted to a post-high school academic program. Applications must be received by April 20 at 3 pm.
Miss Teen All-American Pageant â For young women ages 13 through 19 and legal residents of the United States to compete as Delegates-at-Large. The Miss Teen All American Pageant will be presented this summer in Florida at the Miami Airport Hilton and Marina, August 2-5, 2001. In addition to a fabulous array of prizes and a year of travel and personal appearances, Miss Teen All American 2001 will receive a $5,000 cash award. The Newtown Federation of Teachers Local 1727 â A $1,000 scholarship for a Newtown High School senior based on the following criteria: the candidateâs academic record, evidence of service to the school and community, and desire to major in the field of education. Application needs to be returned to Mr Quinlan in the Guidance Office by Monday, April 23, 2001.
Juvenile Arthritis College Scholarships â Three $500 scholarships for high school seniors in Connecticut and Rhode Island who have juvenile arthritis or another rheumatic disease. Other criteria include good academic standing, demonstrated citizenship and motivation, accepted/applied to an accredited post-secondary institution, and in need of financial assistance (and have completed the 2000-2001 FAFSA). Applications must be received on or before April 30, 2001.
