NYS Independent Living

Day Approaching

Newtown Youth Services is once again offering the opportunity to community members to participate in Independent Living Day on May 5, between the hours of 9 am and 3 pm. This day is designed to help senior citizens continue to live independently “with a little help from their friends.”

Last year’s event was an overwhelming success. Senior citizens who need some projects done such as cabinets organized, windows washed, painting, cleaning high or hard to reach places, floors vacuumed or washed, light bulbs replaced, refrigerators cleaned, flowers planted, or screens changed can call Youth Services for a survey to fill out.

You can volunteer as an individual (adult or youth, age 11 and older), as a family, or as a group. Volunteers can work from 9 am until noon or noon until 3 pm. Call 270-4335 and let us know what you would like to do. We have a list of chores from which to choose.

For more information or to request a survey (either the senior survey or the volunteer survey) call 270-4335. We look forward to another successful day.
