This summer, Newtown High School senior Tom Denninger will be heading to Sydney, Australia to take part in the Down Under Bowl, an all-star football game created by International Sports Specialists, Inc. â that is, if he can raise the money.
Mr Denninger is still about $1,400 short of his goal and is asking any individuals or businesses who would like to help him participate in this once-in-a-lifetime experience to send their checks (payable to ISSI or International Sports Specialists, Inc.) to him at 5 Baldwin Road in Newtown, 06470.
Some 65 athletes are hoping to make the trip to the game, which became an official event of Queensland, Australia, in 1998. The Down Under Bowl is part of a wide circle of activities scheduled â incouding the Down Under Hoop Classic and other events featuring wrestling, cross country, dancing and cheerleading.
