Esther Ernestine Paproski passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, March 24. Esther was born March 27, 1942, in Waterbury, Connecticut, to Carl Kuhne and Fannie (Pettit) Kuhne.

She lived her formative years in Sandy Hook, remaining in Newtown her entire life. She graduated from Newtown High School in 1960, excelling in basketball and field hockey. Esther enjoyed bird watching and gardening, and had a special talent for painting landscapes.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, James Paproski; daughter, JoAnn Paproski; son, Ron Paproski; and brother, Ernie Kuhne.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, April 2, from 3 to 4 pm, at Honan Funeral Home, located at 58 Main Street in Newtown.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sending a donation to the charity of one’s choice.
