Eastern Division

New York Yankees – Best pitching staff in baseball and Derek Jeter.

Boston Red Sox – No go without Nomar.

Toronto Blue Jays – Next trade they make will be for someone who is already dead..

Tampa Bay Devil Rays – Someone must be better than Baltimore Orioles.

Baltimore Orioles – Rotten management has - and will continue to - plague this team.

Central Division

Cleveland Indians – Juan Gonzalez is playing for a new contract.

Chicago White Sox – David Wells helps big time.

Kansas City Royals – You know, not a half bad team. Look out for Mike Sweeney.

Detroit Tigers – Cavernous Comerica Park is a black hole for hitter.

Minnesota Twins – No money, no chance.

Western Division

Oakland Athletics – One of the best pitchers in baseball (Tim Hudson)_and one of the best hitters (Jason Giambi)_in baseball.

Texas Rangers – A $250 million contract gets ‘em second place..

Seattle Mariners – You can’t continue to lose your best players and expect to win anything.

Anaheim Angels – Life is not fun in the land of Disney.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Eastern Division

New York Mets – Look out for Glendon Rusch and Robin Ventura.

Atlanta Braves – I’ll root for them only because Rico Brogna is at first.

Montreal Expos – Vladimir Guerrero and Jose Vidro are two of the best players in the game.

Florida Marlins – Sharp pitching gives ‘em a chance.

Philadelphia Phillies – New carpet at the Vet, but still a bad team.

Central Division

St. Louis Cardinals – Big boppers should help overcome questionable pitching.

Houston Astros – Will pitcher Jose Lima (7-16) return from the land of the dead?

Chicago Cubs – Sammy got his money, but the team still isn’t very good.

Cincinnati Reds – Ken Griffey Jr is hobbled . . . much like the franchise has been hobbled for years.

Milwaukee Brewers – The Brewers will ride the allure of their new ballpark to a modest fifth-place finish.

Pittsburgh Pirates – The Pirates will ride the allure of their new ballpark to a less than modest sixth-place finish.

Western Division

Arizona Diamondbacks – D’backs need to win to pay off their bills.

San Francisco Giants – Won’t succeed in playoffs as long as Barry Bonds is on the team.

Colorado Rockies – Will pitching finally make a difference in Coors?

Los Angeles Dodgers – Spend, spend, spend, spend, spend . . . lose, lose, lose, lose, lose.

San Diego Padres – Even the Dodgers are better than the Padres.

American League

Division Winners – New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians, and Oakland Athletics. Wildcard – Texas Rangers.

Playoffs - New York over Texas and Oakland over Cleveland.

ALCS – New York over Oakland.

National League

Division Winners – New York Mets, St. Louis Cardinals and Arizona Diamondbacks. Wildcard – Atlanta Braves.

Playoffs - New York s over Arizona and St. Louis over Atlanta.

NLCS – St. Louis over New York.
