Donald M. Drew

Donald M. Drew, 72, husband of Helen (Hanlon) Drew of 16 Evergreen Road, Sandy Hook, died March 28 at the Cedar Lane Nursing Home, Waterbury.

He was born in Staatsburg, N.Y., October 1, 1928, a son of the late Julian and Helen (Gardner) Drew. A resident of Newtown since his youth, Mr Drew was educated in Newtown schools.

From 1946 to 1948 he served in the US Army. Mr Drew was employed for 34 years by Northeast Utilities in Berlin until his retirement in 1990.

He was a member of Hiram Lodge #18 AF & AM of Sandy Hook and was a life member of VFW Post 308 of Newtown.

In addition to his wife, Mr Drew is survived by a stepson, William Douglas of Bedford, Penn.; two sons, Donald Drew of Colorado, and Richard Drew of Houston, Tex.; four daughters, Linda Conn and Teresa Corntassel, both of Brady, Tex., Helen Pierce of Blythe, Calif., and Kathy Drew of Lakewood, Calif.; three sisters, Marion Rothe of Newtown, Virginia Wilson of Omaha, Neb., and Barbara Lestick of Inverness, Fla.; and several grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 31, at 10 am in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown. Interment will be in Zoar Cemetery.

Friends may call Friday, March 30, from 3 to 5 pm and 7 to 9 pm.
