In collaboration with Newtown Cultural Arts Commission, Newtown Public Schools will be showcasing student art at the municipal center the first two weeks of April. Featuring the artwork of students throughout the district, the annual presentation will provide the opportunity to highlight the artistic excellence of Newtown children of all ages.

A public reception is planned for Tuesday, April 2, from 5-7 pm, during which guests will have the opportunity to enjoy face painting, music, and snacks as the exhibits are officially unveiled to the public.

“Every kid wants to show their parents their art and it is packed,” said Laura Lerman, chair of the cultural arts commission. The commission originally initiated the art show tradition when they assumed curation responsibility for the Newtown Municipal Art Gallery, she shared.

The exhibit will be on display April 1-12 in the central hall of the Newtown Municipal Center. The building, at 3 Primrose Street, is generally open weekdays between 8 am and 4:30 pm. The art can also be viewed evenings when Town boards and commissions are meeting at the municipal center.
