Five MV Charges

While on patrol late on the night of March 21, police stopped motorist Phil Ullrich, 22, of 3 Brassie Road after they spotted him not yield the right of way to another motorist at the intersection of Country Club Road and South Main Street, police said.

After investigating, police charged Ullrich with failure to yield the right of way, misuse of marker plates, failure to have automotive insurance, creating excessive noise with a motor vehicle, and having improperly tinted automotive window glass.

Police issued Ullrich a misdemeanor summons, requiring that he appear on April 4 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.

Avalon Damaged

Police learned late on the morning of March 18 that a Danbury motorist had parked and left her 2006 Toyota Avalon in the parking lot at The Homesteads of Newtown at 166 Mt Pleasant Road, after which she returned to it and found that some motorist had apparently driven into the car’s trunk. The unknown motorist who damaged the trunk had left the scene without reporting the accident.

Police are investigating and ask anyone with knowledge of the offending motorist’s identity to contact them at 426-5841.

Butternut Crash

About 4 pm March 11, motorist Maria Piscitelli, 18, of 5 Butternut Ridge Road, who was driving a 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser eastward on Butterfield Road, made a right turn onto southbound Butternut Ridge Road, police said.

The vehicle went out of control, crossed Butternut Ridge Road and then struck two metal guardposts, police said. Piscitelli was not injured. Police verbally warned her for failure to drive to the right.

 

Volvo Mishap

Motorist Maureen Mulcay, 22, of Danbury was driving a 2001 Volvo sedan eastward near 222 Berkshire Road about 8 am March 16 during snowy conditions, police said.

The Volvo then slid off the right side of the slippery road on a curve and went onto a lawn, damaging it, police said. Mulcay was not injured. Police issued Mulcay a misdemeanor summons for making a restricted turn and for failure to carry automotive insurance.

Court Appearance

Police said they served a warrant against Matthew DeLuca, 20, of 2 Elm Drive on March 22, charging him with second-degree failure to appear in court, driving while under suspension, and failure to display marker plates.

The motor vehicle charges stem from a December incident. Police released DeLuca on $500 bail for an April 4 court appearance.

Sexual Assault

On March 22, police served an arrest warrant against Joel Singer, 20, of 16 Lyrical Lane, charging him with second-degree sexual assault and with risk of injury or impairing the morals of a minor.

The arrest stems from a  January complaint. Police held Singer on $10,000 bail for a March 23 court arraignment.

Taunton Lake Road

Sometime between 9:30 pm on March 24 and 10 am on March 25, someone vandalized an unspecified motor vehicle near a home on Taunton Lake Road, police said. The owner estimates damage repairs at $800.

Police are investigating and ask anyone with information on the criminal mischief to contact Officer Todd Dingee at 426-5841.

Four MV Charges

While on patrol on the night of March 25, police said they stopped motorist Ronald Isler, 21, of 32 Bonnie Brae Drive for a motor vehicle violation. Police said they found four motor vehicle violations after investigating.

Police charged Isler with traveling too fast for conditions, driving without functioning tail lamps, driving while under suspension, and driving without automotive insurance.

After processing the case, police released Isler for arraignment on the charges April 11 at Danbury Superior Court.

South Main DUI

Police report that at about 3 am March 25, they stopped motorist Harry Faroux, 19, of Monroe while he was driving on South Main Street to investigate.

Following field sobriety testing, police charged Faroux with driving under the influence, with possession of alcohol by a minor in a motor vehicle, and also with a travel lane violation.

After arrest processing, Faroux posted $100 bail and was released for an April 10 court appearance.

Criminal Charges

Police said they investigated a domestic dispute on the afternoon of March 24 at a residence at which Christopher Eissman, 25, of 24 Wills Road had thrown and broken various objects, causing debris to strike two victims. The victims were not injured, police said.

Police charged Eissman with criminal violation of a protective order, disorderly conduct, interfering with an Emergency 911 call, and with two counts of second degree reckless endangerment.

Police held Eissman on $50,000 bail for a March 26 court appearance.

 

Berkshire Road

Motorist Unsal Aksu, 26, of Detroit, Mich., was driving a 2002 Honda Accord southward on Berkshire Road about 11:30 pm March 21, when he swerved to avoid an animal in the road, but lost control of the auto and went off the left side of the street, police said.

The Honda rolled over onto its passenger side and then came to rest against a utility pole, police said.

Aksu was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Subaru Vs Deer

Motorist Joel Kaplan, 56, of Ridgefield was driving a 2005 Subaru Legacy sedan southward on Hawleyville Road, near the Brookfield town line, about 7:45 pm March 11, when a deer leapt onto the pavement, police said.

The Subaru and the deer collided. Neither Kaplan, nor two passengers, were injured, police said. Police took no enforcement.

Chevrolet Vs Mazda

A two-vehicle accident near the Friendly Service Station at 151 South Main Street closed a section of that road to through-traffic for about 45 minutes on the afternoon of  March 25.

Police said motorist Jeffrey Laflamme, 21, of 10 Arlyn Ridge Road was driving a 2004 Mazda M-6 northward on South Main Street, as motorist Kristen Anderson, 42, of Darien, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Suburban, was attempting to turn left from the service station driveway onto southbound South Main Street.

The two vehicles collided. Newtown ambulance volunteers and Botsford firefighters responded to the accident. Ambulance staffers transported Anderson to Danbury Hospital for treatment, police said. A family member transported Laflamme for medical care, police said.

Traffic was detoured from South Main Street onto parallel Peck’s Lane until the accident wreckage was removed, police said. The accident is under investigation.

Subaru Vs Mercedes

About 7:40 am March 22, motorist Julie Yin, 48, of 21 Juniper Road, who was driving a 2004 Mercedes-Benz sedan southward on South Main Street, stopped and was signaling to make a left turn into a driveway at 43 South Main Street, police said.

Southbound motorist Tara Belmont, 16, of 161 Sugar Street, who was driving a 2005 Subaru Legacy sedan behind the Mercedes, then swerved in trying to avoid an accident, but the two vehicles collided, police said.

There were no injuries. Belmont received a written warning for following too closely.

Moving Violation

Police report that at about 5:11 pm on March 23, they spotted motorist Kim Capozziello, 42, of 48 Hilldale Drive driving on Queen Street and knew that Capozziello had a suspended driver’s license.

Police said they stopped Capozziello on Church Hill Road to investigate, after which they charged him with driving with a suspended license.

Police released him on a written promise to appear April 10 in Danbury Superior Court.

Larceny/Paraphernalia

On the night of March 23, police charged Max Rojo, 19, of 27 Mountain Manor Road with sixth degree larceny and with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said that Rojo had attempted to steal pizza at the Big Y supermarket at Newtown Shopping Village on Queen Street. An investigation turned up some drug paraphernalia on Rojo, police said.

 After posting $50 bail, police released Rojo for an April 4 court appearance.

Wrecker Into Rails

Police report that David Markey, 31, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2006 Chevrolet auto wrecker westward near 87 Mt Pleasant Road at about 3:40 pm March 26, encountered a deer that had entered the road.

Markey avoided the deer by braking and turning to the right, but the toolbox positioned on the right side of the wrecker hit some metal-beam guardrailing, police said.

Markey was not injured. Police verbally warned him for making a restricted turn.

High Bridge Road

Police said they were operating stationary radar on High Bridge Road about 5 pm March 27, when they stopped a vehicle for its rate of speed.

After investigating, police charged motorist Claudia Camino, 21, of Monroe with traveling too fast and with driving with a suspended license.

Police released Camino on a written promise to appear April 10 in Danbury Superior Court.

 

Mt Pleasant DUI

About 9 am March 27, police said they spotted motorist Constance Defilippo, 52, of Southbury traveling over the road’s center line and shoulder line on Mt Pleasant Road, near Taunton Lane, so they stopped her to investigate.

Police charged Defilippo with driving under the influence, making a restricted turn, and a travel lane violation.

After processing, Defilippo posted $250 bail and was released for an April 10 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

South Main Collision

Police report a two-car collision in front of Ricky’s Shopping Center at 71 South Main Street about 3:45 pm March 23.

The accident involved motorist Brian Gibney, 69, of Brookfield, who was driving a 1994 Saturn sedan, and motorist Jillian Moses, 17, of 35 Equestrian Ridge Road, who was driving a 2001 Honda Accord sedan, police said. There were no injuries.

Police issued Gibney a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

Chevrolet Vs Volvo

At about 4:20 pm March 22, motorist Michael Bria, 32, of Woodbury, who was driving a 1999 Chevrolet station wagon eastward near 136 Mt Pleasant Road, skidded on the wet road and struck the rear end of an eastbound 2001 Volvo station wagon driven by Dina DiMartino, 39, of 5 Dylan Drive, police said.

DiMartino reported neck pain, but refused medical attention, police said. Police issued Bria a written warning for following too closely.
