*Six decades after his start in the music business, WILLIE NELSON continues to record, tour, and do pretty much what he wants to. Fortunately for fans of country music classic and contemporary, this year Willie has decided to spend some more time on the road, and he, along with special guests THE NITTY GRITTY DIRT BAND, will be at Mohegan Sun Arena on Friday, May 26.
Tickets for that show are $35 and $45 and will go on sale through TicketMaster starting at 10 am Saturday, April 1. Sales on Saturday will be through TicketMaster vendors only; box office sales at the arena will begin on Sunday starting at 10.
*A reminder that Mocha Coffee House will welcome FAIRFIELD CROSSING on Friday, March 31, from 7:30 until 9:30 pm.
The trio is Julie Sorcek on vocals, flute, piccolo and bodhran; Erick Feucht on vocals, fiddle and mandolin; and Bill Campbell on back-up vocals, guitar and bass guitar. As a trio these three play what they call âa vibrant mixture of traditional and contemporary Celtic, New England and Appalachian vocals and instruments.â
They also have shows lined up at Starbucks in Newtown on April 8 (7-9 pm) and then at Molten Java Coffeehouse in Bethel on Saturday, May 19 (8-11 pm).
*NINE INCH NAILS will return to Connecticut in a few months. NIN, along with Bauhaus and special guest Peaches, will be at The Dodge Music Center in Hartford on Tuesday, June 20.
Tickets for that show will be going on sale Saturday morning at 10 through the Chevrolet Theatre box office in Wallingford (the Dodge Center has yet to open for the season), and also through TicketMaster vendors. Seats for this gig are $20 up on the lawn and $35, $45 or $55 for the reserved pavilion seats.
*Also going on sale this weekend will be tickets for LONESTAR, who will headline at Mohegan Sun Arena on Tuesday, May 2. American Idol 2 contestant and country singer Josh Gracin will open that show.
Tickets are just $27.50 and will be on sale by 10 am Friday.
*The Palace Theater in Waterbury has a number of concerts coming up, including country singer GARY ALLEN with special guest JOSH TURNER this weekend. Tickets are still available for that show, and are priced at $34.50, $44.50 and $67.
Also coming up in Waterbury is R. KELLY on Tuesday, April 4. Kelly is on the road on a theaters-only tour that continues to introduce new characters in his Grammy-nominated Trapped in The Closet saga. Tickets for next weekâs show are $45, $55, $65 and $75.
The brothers VAN ZANT, Johnny and Donnie, of course, will bring their great sound to Waterbury on Wednesday, April 26, for an 8 pm show. Tickets for that event are $22.50, $28.50, $38.50 and $46.50.
Finally, the Grammy Award-winning TRAIN will be headlining on Monday, May 1, with special guest Brandi Carlile. Tickets for that show are $28.50, $34.50 and $41.50 apiece.
All shows are on sale. The Palaceâs box office can be reached at 203-755-4700, or tickets can be purchased through the theaterâs website, PalaceTheaterCT.org. When you go to the home page, click on Purchase Individual Tickets and then find the show youâre interested in. The website has a calendar of upcoming shows, but as of earlier this week the Van Zant and Train shows werenât yet showing up on the calendar, although they were accessible through the Purchase Tickets page.
*Finally this week, if youâre up for taking a drive next month and youâre a fan or COWBOY JUNKIES and/or special guest SHAWN MULLINS, then Iâve got the show for you. The Junkies will be headlining at Paramount Center for the Arts in Peekskill on Thursday, April 13; Millins will have the opening set.
Tickets are $35 and $40, and available by calling 877-840-0457 or online at ParamountCenter.org.
Until next week Iâll be seeing you... on the road.
