First Selectman Dan Rosenthal shared a draft decision from Connecticut’s Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) that validates the many complaints being made by ratepayers and municipal leaders who bore the brunt of Eversource’s slow and inconsistent response following Tropical Storm Isaias, which battered Newtown and the region on August 4, 2020. “Newtown Emergency Communications Center Moves Into Its Brand-New Home,” by Shannon Hicks, published March 23. Maureen Will made the final emergency communications center transmission out of 3 Main Street last week, formally closing the dispatch center’s original location. The new Newtown Emergency Communications Center (NECC, or “dispatch”) location, 191 South Main Street, is larger and brighter than its predecessor. “Fire Of Unknown Cause Damages King Street Home,” by Shannon Hicks, published March 26. Firefighters from all five Newtown fire companies and Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps were sent to a King Street home early Sunday afternoon following multiple calls for a fire. “Selectmen Okay Incentive Benefit For RV Dealership,” by John Voket, published March 22. On the recommendation of the Newtown Economic Development Commission (EDC), the Board of Selectmen on March 15 unanimously agreed to a local business incentive program application for a northeastern recreational vehicle dealership that has designs on the former BlueLinx parcel at 201 South Main Street.
