Antiques Open House At The C.H. Booth Library

Interested in learning the history or finding the value of your classic car, favorite Smurf, Royal Doulton figurine, or Beatles records? Visit C.H. Booth Library and see the extensive collection of antiques and collectibles books at an open house, on Sunday, April 10, from 1 to 5 pm.

The open house will take place on the third floor of the library in the front room. This entire room is dedicated to the 3,000-volume collection, most of which is in circulation.

The public is invited to browse, check out books, ask the librarian questions, suggest purchases, and enter a free drawing for new books on antiques and collectibles.

The Friends of the Library has donated $2,000 to update value and identification guides. The group has also contributed funds for shelf labels to make it easier for patrons to find material in that special collection.

This collection of antiques book was donated by Scudder Smith of The Bee Publishing Company, and made available to the public in January 2003. It is one of just a few special collections on antiques and collectibles in Connecticut.

The Antiques Open House is being held in conjunction with Newtown Historical Society’s annual fundraiser, Antiques Appraisal Day, in the meeting room of the library 2 to 5 the same day.
