Eaten Any Good Books Lately?

NEW HAVEN — Creative Arts Workshop will host its Second Annual Edible Book Tea on Saturday, April 2, beginning at 9 am in the Book Bindery at CAW, 80 Audubon Street in New Haven. The event is being held as part of the 25th anniversary celebration of the Laura K. Lada-Mocarski Book Bindery, which will include special events, lectures and workshops throughout the year.

The Edible Book Tea will begin at 9 am with the delivery and set up of the books. The show will be open to the public from 10 to 11 am. Tea will be served and books will be eaten at 11 am. Guests are invited to make a “book” or just view the delicious display of creativity.

An “edible book” is something that can be eaten that looks like a book or makes reference to a book title or structure. The Edible Book Tea is being conducted in coordination with the 6th Annual International Edible Book Festival, running April 1 to April 5.

The event “unites bibliophiles, book artists and food lovers to celebrate the ingestion of culture and its fulfilling nourishment.” Participants around the world create unique edible books, which are then exhibited, photographed and eaten.

There is no advanced registration or fee to participate.
