International Festival Of Arts & Ideas Seeking Volunteers

NEW HAVEN — Arts & Ideas New Haven is seeking volunteers to assist with many aspects of the 10th annual International Festival of Arts & Ideas, which will be held from June 10 through June 25, 2005.

There are opportunities for volunteers in many areas, including Festival Outreach, which promotes the festival in the greater New Haven region from April through June through researching potential audiences and distributing materials, and monitoring press coverage in suburban areas and collecting press clippings; working in the Festival Information Booth; coordinating and running activities with children, especially ages 3-12; Surveying, for those who enjoy talking with people and initiating contact, to gather information from festival attendees; ushering; and working at Festival Headquarters, located at the corner of Church and Elm Street, before, during and after the festival.

Volunteers, who may sign up for as many assignments as they choose, are asked to commit to morning, afternoon or evening slots throughout the Festival, in four-, six- or eight-hour shifts.

All volunteers are required to attend a single one-hour training session prior to the festival.

Interested and groups interested in volunteering should contact Catherine Lincoln, Volunteer Coordinator, at 203-498-3750 or request a volunteer application form by email from volunteer@artidea.org. Full volunteer details are available at www.ArtIdea.org, which also presents full festival information.

Arts & Ideas New Haven receives support from the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism.
