SOUTHBURY â The next BookTalk program at Southbury Public Library will feature Patricia OâConner, the author of three books about language and writing. Ms OâConner will speak on her book Woe Is I: The Grammarphobeâs Guide To Better English in Plain English, on Monday, April 4, at 2 pm.
First published in September 1996, Woe Is I answers all those troubling aspects of grammar and writing with humor and gentle education. Chapters include âThey Beg To Disagree: Putting Verbs in Their Place,â âComma Sutra: The Joy of Punctuation,â and âSaying is Believing: How to Write What Your Mean.â
Ms OâConnor is also the author of Worlds Fail Me: What Everyone Who Writes Should Know About Writing and You Send Me: Getting It Right When Your Write Online; she co-authored the latter book with Stewart Kellerman.
