First Degree Larceny
Police have charged a local woman with first degree larceny after she allegedly illegally used a debit card dozens of times at automatic teller machines (ATM) to withdraw $10,047 from her motherâs bank account.
Police said Catherine OâGrady, 34, of 54 Great Ring Road used her motherâs debit card without permission to withdraw the funds. Approximately $945 in funds were withdrawn from the bank account via ATMs located in Newtown, police said.
The remainder of the $10,047 in funds was withdrawn from ATMs in Waterbury, Southbury, Danbury, and Port Jefferson, N.Y., police said. The withdrawals occurred from July to December 2004, police said
First degree larceny involves the theft of more than $10,000. It is a Class B felony.
After processing OâGradyâs March 28 arrest on a court warrant, police released her on a promise to appear for arraignment April 12 in Danbury Superior Court.
