APRIL 16 TALK FOCUS ON MARIKO MORI

AVV 1-18 #726164

PHILADELPHIA, PENN. — The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts’ Art-at-Lunch talk on American art and culture on Wednesday, April 16, from noon to 1 pm, will focus on “Mariko Mori: Art in Search of an Enlightened Future.”

The work of contemporary artist Mariko Mori consists of a complex nexus of religion, science and technology, and the self that combines to form the artistic foundation for her passionate quest to attain enlightenment in the contemporary age.

Jonathan Wallis, professor of art history at Moore College of Art and Design, discusses several of her provocative and quasi-futuristic interactive works of art that source from both the ancient spiritual past and cutting-edge scientific theories and technologies involved with states of human consciousness and human links to the greater cosmos.

The academy is at 118-128 North Broad Street. For information, 215-972-7600 or www.pafa.edu.
