BOSTON, MASS. (AP) — The new security director at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum says he is not giving up on solving one of the biggest art heists in US history.

Anthony Amore tells the Boston Herald he is holding out hope the museum’s $5 million reward will lead to the return of 13 priceless items, including works by Rembrandt, Vermeer, Degas and Manet.

Amore says he needs the collective intelligence of people all over the world to track down the artwork.

In 1990, two men disguised as Boston police officers walked into the museum as the city’s St Patrick’s Day celebration was winding down. They persuaded security guards to unlock the doors.

The heist appears on the FBI’s list of the top ten art thefts.
