Imagine This and Colorgraphix opened the 2003-04 The Gym at Newtown Women’s Basketball League playoffs with wins on Tuesday night.

Imagine This defeated The Gym at Newtown, 58-41, and will go on to play Denmo’s next Tuesday. Colorgraphix defeated Walsh Logging, 63-31, and will now meet Newtown Mobil in the second round of the playoffs.

In the Imagine This win, Suzanne Marsan had a phenomenal game, pouring in 36 points and grabbing five rebounds to lead the way. Kelly Fegler added 20 points, 19 rebounds, six blocks and five steals for a phenomenal game of her own. Amanda Morici chipped in with eight rebounds as Bonnie Willie, Amy Mangold, Nancy Bowen and Sherrie Baggett combined for six rebounds and five steals.

For The Gym, Mel Darrah scored 16 points and pulled down five rebounds Carolyn Signorelli added four points and eight boards as Leslie Trudell canned eight points and grabbed six rebounds. Janet Duffey, Sharon McCarthy and Joan Plavnicky combined for 13 points and 13 rebounds.

In the Colorgraphix win, Maura Keenan had a game-high 24 points and added 11 rebounds, five steals and three assists. Karen Powell and Michelle Smith each scored 12 points and combined for 15 rebounds. Colleen Ruiz, Denise Passano and Peg Bowers combined for 15 points and seven rebounds.

For Walsh Logging, Ruth Rowe popped in 18 points and pulled down six rebounds. Pat McCullough added six points and two boards as Joanne Duncanson chipped in with four points. Meghan LaCava grabbed 12 rebounds, had two blocks and made two steals.
