A Hockey Season For The Ages
To the Editor:
This Newtown Nighthawks Hockey season has been one for the ages. I know myself and my teammates are all honored to have been a part of it. But this championship would have never been achieved without all of the support surrounding us. On behalf of the Newtown High Hockey team I would to thank all of the following people.
First, to all of those who work at The Newtown Bee for all their generous words and impeccable articles that publicized our team’s success all season. Thank you to all of the local businesses who have supported us year after year via buying ads in our program. Our gratitude goes out to all the bus drivers for driving us to and from our practices/games and our fans to all events. To those who chaperoned the fan buses, especially those who weren’t parents of the players, we thank you for your dedication to the program and ensuring the safety of our fans. To all the former players and parents who blazed the trail for us 13 years ago, this wouldn’t have been possible without you. We would also like to thank our dedicated coaches that worked us hard all season long and taught us what it takes to become champions. We could not have done this without you. Last but most certainly not least, we would like to send a great thanks to our fans. Your support has been unwavering this entire year. When us players had no energy left, it was you who kept us going.
This championship belongs all of our fans, supporters and all of Newtown. We won this for you and all we have endured. Myself, and all of Newtown Hockey, are honored to finally bring the first State Championship home. From all of us to all of you, we thank you.
Sincerely,
Matt Sabia (Captain)
