The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will have Newtown artist Dick McEvoy painting a pastel landscape at the next meeting of SCAN, on Wednesday April 8, beginning at 7:30 pm.

This demonstration will take place in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole). The public is invited, free of charge.

Dick McEvoy is a pastel and oil painter whose work is included in over 200 private and corporate collections. His paintings have been exhibited internationally in Florence, Italy; Taipei, China; and in Normandy, Giverny and Provence, France.

His work ranges from Impressionism to Abstract Expressionism. He paints contemporary impressionistic landscapes in pastel and oil, and abstract expressionist paintings in oil with palette knife. His demonstration for SCAN will be a pastel demonstration in an Impressionist style.

Mr McEvoy is a Signature Artist and former officer of both the Pastel Society of America and of the Connecticut Pastel Society. Mr McEvoy was part of the 2012 International Pastel Artists Invitational Exhibition in Taiwan, and was invited to exhibit four paintings in Les Pastelists de France’s International Exhibition in Feytiat France during the summer of 2013. (The oldest pastel society in the world, founded in 1880.)
