Student Achievement Awards

The State of Connecticut Board of Education and Services for the Blind announces its first annual Student Achievement Awards Ceremony to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of legally blind and visually impaired students in grades 6-12 in the areas of academics, civic leadership, and athletics in Connecticut.

Awards will be presented as follows:

* Academic Achievement Award – recognizes outstanding success in one or more academic or vocational areas (not necessarily highest GPA).

* Civic Leadership – recognizes exemplary leadership/participation in a school activity or community setting.

* Athletic Achievement Award – recognizes outstanding success as a participant in athletics either in school or a community setting.

The BESB Student Achievement Awards will be presented on Thursday, May 17, in the Judiciary Room of the State Capitol starting at 10:30 am. The public is invited. Call the Board of Education and Services for the Blind at 800-842-4510, extension 4062, for more information.
