NMS Students Participate In Science Horizons

Newtown Middle School had multiple students who participated in the area science fair, Science Horizons, on the weekend of March 6. There were six finalists from the event: Kelly O’Sullivan and Aidan Pelisson were individual finalists in the individual junior physical category, and Paige Murphy and Lauren Frazzetta, and Melissa Buccino and Jenna Hindes were among the finalist teams. Melissa and Jenna placed fourth in their division, as did Kelly O’Sullivan, and all went on to the state science fair at Quinnipiac University. Kelly came in third place in the state and won two special awards, the Barnes Aerospace Applied Technology Award, and the American Society for Metals-Hartford Chapter, Third Place Middle School.

Other Science Horizons participants, all shown in the photograph, but not in order, were Julia Trudell, Maggie Kennedy, Lauren Frazzetta, Alec Strezlecki, Rachel Karnoff, Victoria Kokoszka, Amy Caporale, Melissa Briscoe, Amanda Locascio, Liz Locasio, Ricky Fuentes, Pat Cain, Richard Griffin, Neil Davis, Cailah Carroll, Ashley Beckett, Stefan Dullinger, Colin Dutt, Aidan Pelisson, Dan Olszwski, Tyler Gibney, Jane Scalfani, Catie Yakush and Megan Evans. Some students participated in teams while others participated individually.
