On Wednesday, April 8, The Town and Country Garden Club will host a program by club member Marilynn Klepfer on composting, a subject near and dear to the hearts of gardeners. The program will be held at Newtown Senior Center, within the multi-purpose building at 14 Riverside Road. It will begin at 7 pm and is open to the public, free of charge.

Mrs Klepfer has taught biological and general science at the secondary level and was also a teacher for the mentally and physically disabled.  She has loved gardening since she was a little girl, and worked in gardens with her mother and her aunt.

Mrs Klepfer is presently the 2015 co-chair of the Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut Gardening Study Committee. She and her husband have devoted much of their retirement to the renovation of their own gardens that continue to be a “work in progress”.

Her presentation will be on the basics of composting home and garden wastes that result in a useful end product for gardens. The process also reduces waste and protects our environment.

Reservations are not needed, but for additional information call Liz Arneth at 203-405-6470.

Marilyn Klepfer will put aside the lilies and start talking compost for the next public program hosted by The Town & Country Garden Club.
