The annual Children’s Fishing Derby – sponsored by the Newtown Fish and Game Club as well as the Newtown Parks and Recreation Department – will be held Saturday, April 8, from 9 am to 12 noon, at the Dickinson Town Park pool.

The Derby is open to all children ages 12 and under.

The pool will be stocked with 250 trout, ranging in size up to 19 inches in length. There will be prizes in three age groups for the largest fish, the first fish, and the first five fish caught on the day. There is no charge to enter.

There will be coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and donuts for sale. A number of Newtown Fish and Game Club members will also be on hand to assist anyone who might need a little help.

Newtown Bait and Tackle will also be at the park to sell bait, hooks, sinkers and bobbers to the young and aspiring anglers.
