Tyler Bigham was named to the dean’s list at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), in Rochester, N.Y. Mr Bigham is a first semester student at RIT, and is majoring in mechanical engineering. He is the son of Newtown residents Keith and Patricia Bigham.

Civilian Bryan R. Geerer, son of Carol A. Hutchins of Hawleyville and Robbert K. Geerer of Naugatuck, has enlisted in the US Marine Corps at Marine Corps Recruiting Station Springfield, in Chicopee, Mass. Mr Geerer will report to Recruit Depot for active duty to undergo basic training in Parris Island, S.C. or San Diego, Calif.

Lauralton Hall junior Mary Kate LoPiccolo, from Newtown, was recently inducted into the school’s World Languages Honor Society for excellence in Latin.

Newtown resident Zack Swartz, son of Lisa and Scott Swartz, was named to the dean’s list at Brandeis University, in Waltham, Mass, for the fall 2007 semester.

Meriah Tani, a freshman at the New York Military Academy, was inducted into the Edward T Hering Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society on March 13. Meriah lives in Sandy Hook.

Three Newtown residents are honor roll students at the Gunnery in Washington, Conn. Juniors Jared C. Kloth and Shelby Sisco, and freshman Amanda Kloth received honors for the winter term ending March 1.

Sandy Hook residents Courtney M. DiBeneditto, Nicole Pamela Krause, Timothy McMullan, Joseph C. Rahtelli, Stacey F. Tomasko, were dean’s list students at Marist College during the fall semester of 2007. Ms DiBeneditto, Ms Krause and Ms Tomasko are seniors at the in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. college; Mr McMullan is a junior, and Joseph C. Rahtelli a freshman. Newtown residents Megan D. LaFlamme, and Lisa M. Morgan, both juniors, were also named to the dean’s list.
