Miriam Taishoff Gerry, 91, of Trumbull, formerly of Norwalk and a former 20-year resident of Newtown, died suddenly but peacefully at her home April 2.  Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was the daughter of Augusta and Phillip Taishoff.

Three children, Patricia Gerry Campbell, and her husband William, of Newtown, Alexandra “Randi” Gerry of Norwalk, and Thomas and Brenda D. Gerry of Round Top, N.Y.; her sister, Sally Cleveland; three grandchildren, Dylan Gerry, Kaitlyn Gerry, and Alexander Campbell; two great-grandchildren; and several beloved nieces and nephews survive Mrs Gerry. Her husband of 68 years, Walter J. Gerry, her sister Caryl Louise Carnow, and her grandson Joshua predeceased her.

A graduate of NYU with a BFA in architecture, Mrs Gerry also got her MS and certification in special education. She worked with children at the Mohegan School in Shelton and later at the E. O. Walsh School in Stratford.

Mrs Gerry loved to travel, loved cats and German shepherd dogs, loved all things Celtic (she visited Ireland, Scotland, and Brittany), and is remembered by her family as an incredible cook and baker — except, not pies.

Funeral services will take place Saturday, April 5, at 4 pm, at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main Street, Danbury. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday, from 2 to 4 pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, Newtown CT 06470.
