Cruson To Discuss Putnam Project

MONROE — Monroe Historical Society invites the public to a program on Sunday, April 9, at 2 pm, at the Meetinghouse on the corner of East Village and Barn Hill Roads.

Newtown historian Dan Cruson will discuss the archaeology of the Putnam (Park) Winter Encampment of 1778-1779 in Redding. Using a series of slides and lecture, Mr Cruson will take the audience through the process of an excavation that occurred during the fall months of 1998 when a team of students from his Joel Barlow High School anthropology classes uncovered the remains of an undisturbed hut used by enlisted men and officers.

There is no admission charge, but donations will be accepted. For more information, call 261-1383.
