Margaret Morgan

Margaret "Peggy" Katherine (Mountain) Morgan, 90, of Sandy Hook died April 4 in New Milford. Born in Berlin, N.H., she was the oldest of Dorothy and Robert Mountain's eight children.

Growing up, she lived in a house on the grounds of The Mount Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods, where her parents worked. After completing high school, she went to nursing school at St Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. She married Harold Morgan after she graduated in 1947, and they had three sons, Harold Jr "Hal," Allan, and Denis.

Mrs Morgan's nursing career spanned more than 50 years. She was very active in the Connecticut Business and Professionals Women's Club and was voted her local chapter's Woman of the Year in 1984. In later years, she was also active in the Columbiettes at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Southbury. She will be remembered by those who knew her for her big heart, warm smile, and strong faith.

Her three sons, two brothers, two sisters, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews survive her. Her husband Harold, her sisters Theresa and Evelyn; and her brother Fulton predeceased her.

Calling hours are Friday, April 7, from 10 am until noon, in the chapel of Sacred Heart Church, 910 Main Street South, Southbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Friday, April 7, at noon in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will follow in Newtown Village Cemetery.
