Erin Begg was in a groove last weekend.

Last Saturday, Begg took first in the 12-and-under division at the eighth annual Easton DARE 5K road race in 24:12 and the very next day took first in the 12-and-under division of the 5K event in 23:20 at the Danbury Half Marathon and 5K Road Race

In the Easton race, at Samuel Staples Elementary School, featured a hilly course and Begg came in 39th overall and bested a field of 99 participants. She was the second local finisher behind Bruce Goulart (18th overall).

At the Danbury 5K, Begg came in 66th overall and was the fourth local finisher behind Austin Baldour (31st), Sarah Krasnickas (57th) and Graham Ingels (60th).

Chris Butler of Sandy Hook was the top local finisher in the Half Marathon event at the Danbury race last weekend, coming in 28th overall at 1:28.21.
