Heading into its final performance of the Winter 2021 season, the Newtown High School Winter Guard team was tied for the top spot in the MAC Scholastic A class.

Now the wait begins to learn how the season will end.

On Saturday, April 3, the team performed its show “Evergreen Dreams” for the final time, and celebrated seniors Kate Farrington and Grace Dauch.

Its performance and rating are part of a COVID-modified Musical Arts Conference (MAC) season that includes recorded performances and a modified competitive element. Scores are released following the performances.

The team expects to hold some spinning workshops in the spring and welcomes anyone to attend who is interested in learning more about the program. Spinning is a combination of athleticism and artistry where the team combines dance with flag and saber tossing. For the summer practices and fall season, NHS Guard is open to all seventh to twelfth graders. If interested contact info@nhsbandguard.com for more information.
