The Southbury-based Cavalier Farm team had quite a weekend at the Interscholastic Equestrian Association’s (IEA) Zone 1 Hunt Seat Finals at the Big E in Springfield, Mass., during the first weekend of April.

Reese Gagnon (fourth grader at Middle Gate), Remy Dannucci (New Fairfield), Clara D’Amico (sophomore NHS), Puma Marx (sophomore NHS), and Abygale Hall (seventh grader at Newtown Middle School) all placed in their respective classes. Olivia Nichols (Southbury) put in a great ride in her walk trot class on Doodles. D’Amico also took home the third place ribbon in the Horsemanship Quiz for Zone 1.

For the second year in a row, Puma Marx qualified for Hunt Seat National Finals with her second place ride in the Junior Varsity walk trot canter class. She will be joined by team member Devon LeMoine of Roxbury, who will show in the Open Championship Class as the Zone 1 High Point Rider this season.

The 2022 IEA National Finals will be held from April 28 through May 1, in Harrisburg, Pa. Riders from all over the country will gather for four days to compete in the three disciplines: Hunt Seat, Dressage, and Western.
