LAKEVILLE — George “Spike” LeGrice has organized Spike’s Ride For Sandy Hook, an event taking place this weekend that will raise funds for the families of those killed on 12/14. Mr LeGrice, who is “deep rooted in the car community in Massachusetts,” told The Newtown Bee, he has organized an outdoor event that he expects will have nearly 3,000 cars, bikes, and trucks on display at Lime Rock Racetrack on Saturday, April 13. Vendors and show setup will begin at 7 am, and gates open at 9. The event will continue until 6 pm.

Admission is $15 for cars and bikes, $20 for trucks, and $5 for spectators. Rain date is Sunday, April 14.

In addition to the thousands of cars, trucks, and bikes on display, the show will feature live music, a drifting exhibition, a motorcycle stunt show and an Eastern Motor Racing Association track event.

Vehicle owners who want to be included in the display have been signing up for weeks, according to Mr LeGrice, who lives in Brockton, Mass.

“People are riding in from meet-up locations across Connecticut, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine, as well as Massachusetts, where I live,” he said. More than 3,000 attendees are expected for what Mr LeGrice says will be a family friendly event.

Lime Rock is providing the venue, he said, and other participants are donating kids games and a bounce house.

The Monster Energy Team is expected to be at Lime Rock for the show, which will also include performances by The Conn Men Stunt Team, CT Stunt and CT Wildstyle.

“All money will be donated to those in Sandy Hook,” Mr LeGrice promised. “I am expecting to raise between $50,000 and $200,000, and I am not taking anything from this.”
