Holy Week Service schedule includes a Maundy Thursday service of Holy Communion at 7:30 pm on Thursday, April  20, and a Good Friday service of reflection and darkness at 7:30 pm on Friday. On Saturday evening the senior youth will have a lock-in and begin preparation for the Easter breakfast that will be served after the 7:30 am sunrise service on Easter morning in the church sanctuary. At 8:30 am, the Easter breakfast will be served in the church Fellowship Hall by the Senior Youth Group. The Sunday School hour, which begins at 9 am, includes a special Easter video and the annual Easter egg hunt on the church grounds. At 10:30 am, the Easter festival service with holy communion will be held. It will include music by the Senior Choir, the King’s Ringers, and the CTK vocal ensemble. On the parish calendar for the week of Easter is a meeting of the Confirmation II group at 7 pm on Thursday evening, April 27.

Newbury Congregational Church

Maudy Thursday service will be at 7:30 pm on April 20. The congregation will receive communion in groups of 12 sitting around the table with one empty chair representing the spirit of Christ. Scriptures, choral singing and hymn singing and communion meditation by Rev Mesnig. Everyone is invited. “Coffin Confusion” is the title of the serman by Rev Mesnig for Easter Sunday at 11 am. The Children’s Moment is titled “The Legend of the Lilies.” The music for the worship service includes “Let Christians Rejoice” by Gail Leven Pollock by the Youth Choir and “Alleluia! Sing to Jesus” by Eugene Butler by the Adult Choir, both under the direction of Sandra Lybe, organist and choir director.

Easter services begin with Sunrise Services at 6 am on top of Castle Hill Road with Lay Minister Edwin Corfey officiating. A continental breakfast will be served afterward in the undercroft.

Regular worship services will be held at 9 and 11 am with both the Rev Steven Gordon and the Rev Janice Touloukian officiating. The Senior Choir, under the direction of Mary Andreotta, will sing “Life Is Given, Halleluhjah!” to the accompaniment of Phil Crevier at the keyboards, Chris Benson, David Strong, and Christine Bennett playing the trumpet, and Tim Cardosa on the tympani. The Senior Choir will sing the introit at the 9 am service and the children will sing the introit, “He Is Risen,” at the 11 am service.

The Sanctuary Choir, directed by Sue Yackel, will sing “Alleluiah” by Randall Thompson. The Rev Royal B. Garren will present the message entitled “The Garden of Life.” The Benediction response will be the “Hallelujah!” chorus from The Messiah by G.F. Handel with trumpet accompaniment by John Danyew, Seth Garren, and Mike Rostafin. Easter Sunday worship 9:30 am. Fellowship and coffee hour at 10:30 am. Childcare is provided. No Sunday school on Easter Sunday. A six-week series of one-hour adult study classes on “Basic Discipleship” will begin on Sunday, April 30, at 11 am.
