Elinor A. Joy

Elinor A. Joy died on March 18 at Fort Hudson Nursing Home in Fort Edward, N.Y., where she had been a resident for the past year. She was a former resident of Newtown and moved to Shushan, N.Y., in 1975.

She was the mother of Susan Carole Joy of Newtown.

She was born on April 29, 1913, in Bridgeport, daughter of James and Mary (Kavanaugh) Cassin. She was a graduate of Central High School in Bridgeport. She was involved with cats and gardening.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward J. Joy.

Also surviving are her son, E. James Joy and his wife Cindy of Shushan, N.Y. She had five grandchildren, Jennifer, Lauren, and Mariah Joy of Newtown, and Rachel and James of Shushan, N.Y.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Woodlawns Cemetery in Cambridge, N.Y.

The family requests memorial contributions be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
