Mr And Mrs Chapman C. Smith

Katherine Connors McLachlan and Chapman Conway Smith were joined in marriage on August 21 at a private residence, Four Winds, in Stowe, Vt., with Justice of the Peace Stuart W. Weppler, step-father of the groom, officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Malcolm McLachlan of Newtown.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr and Mrs Stuart Weppler and Mr and Mrs Shapleigh Smith, Sr.

The bride was given in marriage by her father.

She wore an ivory, silk organza, floor-length gown with detachable train and carried a bouquet of white roses, white lilies, and light blue delphinium with baby’s breath.

The matrons of honor were Megan McLean and Bonnie Zahansky, sisters of the bride, of Newtown.

The bridesmaids were Jennifer Caraluzzi of Brookfield, Christy Green of Danbury, and Liz Durkin of Scottsdale, Ariz.

They wore navy blue, tea-length dresses with an empire waist and a tie bow in back. They carried bouquets of sunflowers, blue delphinium, purple delphinium, and baby’s breath tied with ribbons.

The flowers in the bride’s and attendants’ bouquets were grown by the groom’s mother and friends.

The best man was Ian Van Blarcom of Portland, Me.

The ushers were brothers of the groom, Shapleigh Smith, Jr, of Stowe, Vt, McKee MacDonald, of N.Y., N.Y., Coulter Smith of Rowayton, and Spenser Weppler of Mornsville, Vt.

The bride graduated from Immaculate High School in 1989 and the University of New Haven. She is a pediatric dental hygienist with the Timberlane Dental Group in South Burlington, Vt.

The groom graduated from Stowe High School in 1986 and Vermont Technical College. He is a staff architect with Morris/Switzer and Associates in Williston, Vt.

Following a wedding trip to Big Island and Kauai, Hawaii, Mr and Mrs Smith are residing in Waterbury, Vt.
