Musical ‘Artists For Hospice:’

A Fundraiser

NEW MILFORD — New Milford Visiting Nurse Association will host its eighth annual “Artists For Hospice,” a fundraising event for its hospice program, on Saturday, April 29, at 8 pm, at Canterbury School. Internationally renowned jazz musicians Bucky Pizzarelli, Randy Sandke and the New York All-Stars will perform at 8 pm.

Bucky Pizzarelli has enjoyed a career that spans years, from the Vaughn Monroe Orchestra to White House concerts with Benny Goodman and Frank Sinatra. He has been a staff musician with major television networks, and has worked with Skitch Henderson and Doc Severinson. He has performed at Carnegie Hall and with the Boston Pops.

Randy Sandke has performed at festivals, clubs and concerts around the world. He was a regular member of Benny Goodman’s last band, and was featured on the PBS broadcast “Let’s Dance.” He has recorded five albums on the Concord Jazz label, and has appeared as a solo horn player at Carnegie Hall.

These two musicians will be joined by drummer Tom Melito, bass player and singer/songwriter Jay Leonhart, pianist Derek Smith, and the dynamic jazz vocalist Annette Sanders.

The ticket price of $25 includes a wine and cheese intermission. For tickets, call New Milford Visiting Nurse at 860/354-2216. All proceeds from this event will benefit the hospice program, which will enable the New Milford group to continue providing services for terminally ill people and their families, along with its many bereavement programs which are open to the community.
