CL&P's Winter Protection Plan Ends
CL&Pâs Winter Protection Plan Ends
WATERBURY â The Connecticut Light and Power Company (CL&P) is reminding customers enrolled in the Winter Protection Plan to make arrangements now to pay off their electric bills to avoid possible service shutoffs.
Under the protection plan, individuals or families classified as hardship customers were protected against shutoff if they were unable to make payments on their electric bill during the winter months. The plan went into effect November 1, 1999, and ended April 15, 2000. Customers are responsible for paying their bills at the end of the program.
âSome customers enrolled in our Winter Protection Plan have already made payment arrangements,â said Timothy W. Clark, CL&Pâs credit and collections manager. âHowever, customers who have not made payment arrangements must contact the Credit and Collection Center to make plans to pay overdue bills, or they risk shutoff of electric service.â The centerâs number is 800/286-2828.
For customers who may be seriously delinquent in paying their bills, CL&P offers the services of its HELP (Hardship, Elderly, Low-Income Program) Team. âWe realize some of our customers want to pay their bills but think they just canât catch up,â Mr Clark said. âIf they call us, we will try to work out a reasonable payment plan and, if necessary, we can make referrals to other assistance programs.â
