South African Exchange Group Visits Newtown
Five South African citizens were in Newtown Monday as part of their tour across Connecticut this month.
The team was here as part of Rotary Internationalâs Group Study Exchange (GSE) program, which sponsors young professionals interested in touring another part of the world. A team from Sweden was in town two years ago.
On Monday, the group toured the Curtis Packaging facility before heading on to the Shepaug Dam. A handful of Newtown Rotarians went along on the tour, providing transportation.
The group began its tour in New York City last week and will make its way across the state (Rotary District 7980) before ending up in Boston in early May.
The five young professionals all hail from the Johannesburg area.
