Let Freedom Ring

To the Editor,

Since when have we, as a free people, equated growing up in a police state, fearing the government, and intellectual suppression with living in America?

Men and women have given their only lives to protect our sacred, God-given right to be free.

All of those clueless sheep who keep bleating to “send Elian Gonzales back to his father” have apparently been mislead by our not-so-up-front “free press” and TV experts.

Do you really think that if we let the Clinton Gang and poor befuddled, quaking Janet Reno send that little boy back to his agonized father that this imperiled man will have beans to say about his son’s upbringing?

Are you all so pitifully naïve to believe that this six year-old could ever be allowed to tell his little friends about the good life in America – when he is returned to the control of a murdering, torturing regime?

Children in Cuba, as well as their parents, do not own their own lives. All of them belong to the state. They are sent at a tender age  to toil in the sugar-cane fields under conditions that would boggle the minds of any decent society. The citizens of Cuba are helpless to change their lives.

After Elian’s father arrived in America last week his own elderly parents were taken from their apartment in the dead of night and are being held at an undisclosed location by Castro’s goons. Does anyone think this man is really free to defect from this place/state? Mr G. Knows only too well what could happen to his parents if he makes one false move while he’s here.

Why is our town media so mum about this situation? Why don’t those staunch liberal press people ask the survivors about Castro’s torture chambers? Too unpleasant?

Do you really think those people who escaped with only the clothes on their backs – on leaking unsafe rafts yet – did this just so they could have better shopping in Miami than in Havana? It’s a hostage situation, Stupid!

The loving family who are trying to protect this little boy are portrayed by a venomous press as fanatics who just want to spite Fidel Castro. This screwed-up media would have us believe that these valiant family members are abusing this little boy. They get some windbag pediatrician to tell us this kid must be sent back immediately. What they forgot to mention is that this jerk is on our government’s payroll – just like our Attorney General.

See, some people would like to “improve our relations with Cuba;” that means some of our greedy corporations can get over there soon and sell goods to the impoverished. Fidel can sure use the dough to sponsor more overseas armies to help his dying Communist ideology in South America and Africa. Please, read and get informed!

If we still believe at all in the God-given rights of all individuals then think of the mental cowardice we admit to if we squirm out from under our own professed passion for freedom.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men (and women and children too) …are created equal endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Do you believe this? Without these guarantees we are only farm animals.

God help America and all of the oppressed. We could save Elian and ourselves by affirmation of the truth.
