Richard E. Lawlor, Sr
Richard E. âDickâ Lawlor, Sr, 60, died April 17 at his home on Beach Street, Bethel, after a long battle with cancer. His family was at his side.
He was the husband of Joann Chiarella Lawlor.
Mr Lawlor was born in Danbury, September 3, 1939, son of the late Thomas and Susan Leahy Lawlor. He graduated from Danbury High School, Class of 1957. He was a member of the Army Reserve and was activated during the Cuban Crisis.
Mr Lawlor worked as a printer for Davis and Geck in Danbury for 23 years and also as a driver for The News-Times from 1990 to 1997.
He was a member of St Mary Church in Bethel, the Merchant Duck Pin Bowling League, and the Danbury Industrial Golf League, serving as past president.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his three sons, Richard, Jr, and his wife Christine, Ronald E., and Randall E. Lawlor and his fiancée Lisa, and a granddaughter, Michaela Lawlor, all of Bethel. He is also survived by five brothers, Robert of Nevada, William of Newtown, Edmund of Danbury, and Joseph and Martin, both of Bethel; two sisters, Agnes Gibbs of Kentucky and Elizabeth Green of Newtown. He was predeceased by three brothers, Thomas, Jack, and James; and three sisters, Katherine Culhane, Margaret Trass, and Mary Evansco. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at St Mary Church, Bethel, on April 20. Burial in St Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
Due to the solemnity of Holy Week, a Memorial Mass will be celebrated for Mr Lawlor on Saturday, April 29, at 10 am at St Mary Church in Bethel.
