DARIEN — Women of Wellness of CT (WOW) will host “Building Our Future,” a Fairfield County Community Event, on Thursday, May 2, designed to bring parents in the community together for a night of fun, learning and connection.

Mothers are invited to gather for an evening of wine, light bits and a special presentation by parenting expert Michael Thompson, PhD.

Dr Thompson, author of best-sellers Raising Cain, The Pressured Child, and others, will speak about raising responsible children to build stronger families and communities. Dr Thompson is a consultant, author and psychologist specializing in children and families. He travels approximately 80 days a year to speak to groups of parents and educators around the world.

The event will be at Darien Community Association, 274 Middlesex Road. Doors open at 6:30, and the presentation will begin at 7. Wine and light bites will be served, and door prizes will be awarded during the evening.

Tickets are $25 in advance, $40 at the door, and proceeds will be donated to HealingNewtown Arts Space (www.healingnewtown.org). Space is limited, so reservations are being strongly encouraged.

WOW of CT is a network of female health and wellness practitioners dedicated to supporting women and their families throughout Fairfield County. As healers and caretakers for women and families, members feel a special sense of responsibility to help further resilience and recovery in the area after the events of 12/14. To that end they created an event they hope will encourage and empower local parents who attend, while also supporting what they see as a very worthy organization dedicated to recovery for Newtown families.
