Brooks Holden Smith, a Dartmouth College student in the Class of 2008 from Newtown, is studying classics in Greece during the spring 2007 term as part of the College’s Foreign Study Program. Brooks is the son of Cotton Smith and Phyllis Smith.

Newtown resident Janine M. Pixley has been inducted into the Xi Lambda Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta at Southern Connecticut State University. Janine, a senior communication major specializing in organizational communication and member of the Southern Honors College, completed her undergraduate Honors thesis on theatrical publicity. She has accepted an intern position with Glimmerglass Opera’s development department for the summer.

Westover School in Middlebury announces the following Newtown/Sandy Hook students have been named to the Honor Roll for the winter term: High Honors with Distinction, Jenn Agius and Emily Notaro; High Honors, Ashley Soucar and Anna Marie Unschuld.

 Jillian A. Tanner has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall semester at the University of New Hampshire, in Durham. Jillian has been accepted into the nursing program at UNH’s School of Health and Human Services

Maggie Bamberg, NHS Class of 2003, is one of seven art majors at Guilford College, Greensboro, N.C., who will be featured in the annual senior thesis art exhibition, April 20–May 5. A candidate for a bachelor of arts in photography, she did a semester-long photography internship in 2006 at the Smithsonian Institute, and was later hired as a photographer for the National Air & Space Museum.

Notre Dame Catholic High School, in Fairfield, announces Chevon Miles has earned High Honors for the third marking period.
