Opening Day At Newtown Country Club

Newtown Country Club held its Men’s Opening Day Scramble on Sunday — the club’s earliest and warmest opening day, according to Golf Professional Paul Miller.

The scramble winners, shooting a 58, were Scott Newton, Hamid Torabi, Alan Anderson, and Dr Peter Piliero. In second place, with a 59, were Steve Baye, Jerry Crooks, Chris Rospenda, and Bob Merola. In third, also with a 59, were George Wilson, Bob Chamberland, Nick Pignone, and Frank Kohut. In fourth, with a 60, were Bill Girard, Rich Carrano, Kevin McMahon, and John Stashinsky. In fifth, with a 60, were Mark Simms, Rick Wood, Scott Peterson, and Jack Parsons.
