Theodore E.    Federko

Theodore E. Federko, 79, husband of Ruth (Beno) Federko of Monroe, and Stuart, Fla., formerly of Newtown, died Thursday, April 14, in the Lord Chamberlain Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Stratford.

He was born in Elizabeth, N.J., on September 26, 1925, a son of the late Stephen and Mary (Kania) Federko. Mr Federko was a graduate of Hartford High School.

During World War II, he served in the US Navy and Merchant Marine as an engineer on LCI landing crafts and participated in the invasion of the Philippines and South Pacific Islands.

From 1951 to 1981, Mr Federko was employed at Fairfield Hills Hospital in Newtown and retired as chief engineer of the power plant.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann Federko of Bethlehem; a son, Theodore E. Federko, Jr, of Stuart, Fla.; one grandson, Theodore E. Federko, III; three brothers and their wives, Andrew and Veronica Federko of Bloomfield, George Federko of Stuart, Fla., and John and Betty Federko of Hartford; a sister, Stephanie Peterson, and her husband, Ray, of Bluffton, S.C.; four stepsons and their wives, John and Barbara Bevis of Monroe; Jerald Bevis of Shelton; Ray and Michele Bevis of Huntington, and Timothy and Linda McElligot of Huntington; 14 step-grandchildren, eight step-great grandchildren; four nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara Ann (Clark) Federko.

Funeral services were April 19 in the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street., Newtown. Interment followed in Monroe Center Cemetery.
