To The Editor:

Michelle Embree Ku would be an excellent CT Representative of the 106th district, Newtown. I have learned about her initially listening to her leading Newtown Board of Education meetings during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Over the years, I have since learned about her record in support of local, and statewide common sense firearm laws and willingness to participate in difficult conversations about diversity, equity, and inclusion with Newtown’s Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC) communities.

Michelle has decades of public and community service experience on boards and committees involved in schools and public health. She’s a scientist, demonstrating skills in risk assessment as well as understanding the importance of listening and learning about our growing, robust community that includes the 20% that is non-white.

For years she has participated in events sponsored by the Jr. Newtown Action Alliance, Newtown Action Alliance, and Newtown Allies For Change. She understands the importance of creating safe spaces. She understands diversity, equity and inclusion which in turn, foster a more supportive, multicultural community. She is the best candidate to represent Newtown in Hartford.

A vote for Michelle Embree Ku for State Rep. is a vote for progress and not for the status quo.
