To The Editor:

Newtown, Connecticut will be presenting the first-ever half-marathon, which will include a kids race, a 5K and a 10K for runners. Walkers are encouraged and welcomed.

The event is endorsed by First Selectman Bruce Walczak and the Newtown Parks and Recreation Department. The net proceeds will be presented to the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Association in memory of Greg Ritzinger, a founding member of the Newtown Road Runners.

Organizers are seeking businesses, clubs, organizations as well as individuals to sponsor or volunteer in the many tasks.
