‘Danbury Night Live’ Will Be A Comedic Look At Struggles & Triumphs Of Today’s Teens

DANBURY —This year’s Melting Pot Players’ Annual Benefit Performances, entitled Danbury Night Live, will be May 5 and 6 at Western Connecticut State University’s Student Center Theatre.

“Danbury Night Live will be an evening of comedy improv and a collection of skits depicting the struggles and triumphs of today’s teens,” says James J. Walsh, the executive director of Danbury Youth Services, Inc, which sponsors Melting Pot Players.

Tickets, $5 for students and $10 for adults, will be on sale at the door. Performances are 7:30 pm both nights.

Melting Pot Players is a teen theater group comprised of Danbury area high school students. The members of the group write and perform skits bases on adolescent life. Some of the topics include AIDS and awareness, sexuality, substance abuse, discrimination, suicide and teen pregnancy.

At the conclusion of each performance, the students will answer questions from the audience, providing an opportunity for open communication about these critical issues. This program is currently funded by Interfaith AIDS Ministry and ConnectiCare Inc. All proceeds of the annual performances go to Danbury Youth Services, Inc.
