Community Events
INDEPENDENT LIVING WEEK 2000 â In a joint venture, CT AARP and Connecticut Youth Service Association (CYSA) will be going to the homes of senior citizens, on Saturday, May 6, to perform simple chores or safety checks. Connecticut is the only state in the country using an intergenerational theme.
Members of the HS and MS Youth Advisory Boards, sponsored by NYS, will be participating but we need all the hands we can muster. Teams will be made up of youth and adult volunteers. If you know of a senior who would like some help or you would like to participate please call the NYS office at 270-4335.
**If you are not able to assist in person, but would like to be a part of the day, financial donations are very much needed and would be greatly appreciated. NYS needs to feed the teams of workers, purchase flowers to be planted at the seniorsâ homes, and provide various supplies (i.e. â large house numbers, light bulbs, paint, cleaning supplies, etc.) that may be needed.
Checks may be made out to Newtown Youth Services. We thank you in advance for your support.
