High School Student Awarded Scholarship

Newtown High School senior Andrea Leigh Marciano was recently awarded a $2,000 scholarship from OCI Chemical in Shelton.

OCI’s scholarship program awards up to three $2,000 scholarships for graduating high school seniors whom are dependents of OCI employees.

Applicants submit an essay on what the OCI corporate value “All Interactions are Genuine and Open” means to them and how this value is being applied to their life. In addition to content, originality, creativity and quality of their essay, scholastic performance and community/school involvement are considered as part of the award criteria.

The scholarship program is one step in OCI’s continuing commitment to support leaders of the future, lifelong learning, and to recognize employees and their dependents for personal achievements.

Andrea is the daughter of Marie Johnson of Taunton Lake Drive in Newtown.
