Warrant

Police report that after she learned that police held a warrant for her arrest, Jessica McDermott, 28, of Naugatuck went to the police station on the morning of April 25 and was charged with four offenses in connection with a January incident.

Police said they charged McDermott with fourth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit fourth-degree larceny, third-degree forgery, and theft of a credit card.

The charges stem from an incident last January 13 at the Stop & Shop supermarket at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street in which McDermott and another person allegedly stole a woman shopper’s purse from a shopping cart, and then also cashed a forged check, police said. Information on that other person was not available from police.

Police said they released McDermott on a written promise to appear on May 6 in Danbury Superior Court.

Sandy Hook Accident

A two-vehicle accident occurred on Berkshire Road near the Misty Vale Deli at about 3:20 pm April 25.

Police said that motorist Ian Mcevoy, 17, of 23 Fawnwood Road, who was driving a 2004 Volvo S-60 sedan eastward on Berkshire Road, stopped in traffic and was waiting to make a left turn into the deli’s parking lot.

Eastbound motorist Katherine Peters, 16, of 26 Charter Ridge Drive, who was driving a 2001 Ford Escape SUV, then struck the rear end of the Volvo, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they issued Peters an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
